About Us

Jóvenes Adelante was established to promote the education of the local population through scholarships and other services.

Our success is due primarily to the work of more than 200 members and volunteers. Because of San Miguel de Allende's special character as a 16th-century Spanish Colonial city and a UNESCO World Heritage site with a rich cultural center, it attracts many outstanding retiring professionals and active artists. Our new branch in Guanajuato, a picturesque university city, has brought many more outstanding volunteers to us.

For more on the history & spirit of Jóvenes Adelante see "It Began with a Pair of Shoes" an article published in Atención featuring founder Virginia Wheelright. For a current report on our activities, see the 2010 Presidents Report.

Our Board is comprised of volunteers from both communities. Our officers, pictured below, serve 2 year terms. If you have additional questions please contact us at Info@JovenesAdelante.org.
