Once in a while, a student finds him or herself in a financial emergency not of his or her making. For instance, a student got all the way to graduation and found out that his university no longer had credentialing power (we no longer recommend that school!). He found a university that would accept his credits (rare!) and gained admittance, but needed the funds to see him through a semester there to prove his abilities.

Our eligible students need a new laptop computer loaded with specific software, to assist them in completing their studies.

Your grant purchases this essential tool that is more important than ever, as all students study online.

When founder Betse Davies learned of one exceptionally qualified scholarship applicant who could not meet the student’s full portion of expenses that Jóvenes Adelante requires, she created the Betse Davies Special Stars Fund. Now, if a student or applicant experiences unusually severe financial challenges (reduced household income through declining remittances or job loss; illness or accidents among family members; or unexpected tuition increases), the Betse Davies Fund provides top-up funding, helping to bridge a gap that can only be resolved with extra cash.
